Unix Timestamp Converter
Updated on:Convert Unix timestamp to date and vice versa online.
How it works
1. Choose direction. 2. Enter timestamp or date. 3. Click Convert.
Advantages
Bidirectional conversion. Auto-detect seconds/milliseconds. ISO 8601 format.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Seconds vs milliseconds: JavaScript uses milliseconds (13 digits), while traditional Unix uses seconds (10 digits). Confusing them produces dates in the far future or past.
- Time zone: Unix timestamps are in UTC. The displayed date depends on your local time zone. A timestamp at 23:00 UTC is the next day in CET.
- Epoch 2038: 32-bit systems cannot represent timestamps after January 19, 2038 (Y2K38). Use 64-bit systems.
- Negative timestamps: dates before January 1, 1970 are represented by negative timestamps. Not all systems support them.
